WAC in Palestine continues to support bereaved women in Gaza through psychology sessions, to cope with grief and ultimately reintegrate back to public life and access their rights at individual and collective level. Hosnia, a bereaved woman, stated, "I lost the meaning of my life when I lost my only son. I suffered from psychological problems and isolated myself from others. Yet, I participated in public support sessions and met other bereaved women who suffered from complicated problems of loss. I became open to others and participated in visits to injured people to support them and their families." Huda, a bereaved woman who attended a session on Personal Status Law said, "I lost my husband in the last Israeli offensive in 2014 and faced many problems with my husband's family regarding the inheritance. After attending the session, I became more aware of my legal rights. I claimed my inheritance and filed a lawsuit at court." WAC has found that they also need to target family members to change their attitudes to become supportive of bereaved women’s rights and they prioritise to organise advocacy campaigns and initiatives to increase prevention and community awareness of women’s rights, GBV and gender equality.
